Ping
The most simple of network related checks between the monitor location and the monitor target.
Important
The AWS locations currently do not support a ping test due to internal AWS permissions. But you can use the Up or Down test with a TCP port for similar purposes.
An ICMP packet is sent to the DNS name or IP address defined in the Monitor Target. On receipt of the response the success status and the response time are recorded.
Note
The Monitor Target attribute for this monitor type can be an IP address or a DNS name.

Evaluation
The response time of the monitor attempt will be compared to the timeout that you define.
