Notifications
Notifications are triggered based on the setting your configure for a monitor and linked to teams.
Note
You can only view and use notifications that are associated with the teams that you are a member of.
Create a Notification
To create a notification you must have at least one team available. Click on the Notifcations icon in the left menu and then click New Notification.
After selecting the type of notification you want, the options will be presented to configure it.
Notification Types
Currently there are six different notificaion options and we’re always keen to hear about other options you would benefit from. Let us know what you might need.
- Email All Team Members
- Email a Specific User
- Email Team On-call
- Generic Webhook
- Mattermost Webhook
- Slack Webhook
Monitor Configuration
Now that you have at least one notification created, you can add it to a monitor.
In the Notification Config tab for a monitor, check the box beside the notification you want to enable and then update the triggers. The Expected Result value for your monitor determines was is a success or a failure.
Tip
Selecting the option to send on every failure for a high frequency monitor can send many notifications. Try to avoid this and use a notification option that can be easily identified by the recipient.
SMS Text Messaging
Canary does not support SMS text messaging for notifications due to the poor support, potential for abuse, and cost of global coverage.
